And today: lots and lots of drawing!! I applied at Yerf.com (after CuteFTP was finished being grouchy). Hopefully, I will be accepted. More publicity for me and ma site and an excuse for me to draw more furry art! : ) It can't go wrong.

As of yesterday about 2:30 I'm officially out school! Yipeee!! So I went down to Whyte Ave by myself to mingle with the fun and freaky and buy some new pens, cuz my old ones have a lifespan of about two weeks- why am I so hard on my drawing utensils?! The weather was really nice too so I didn't want to be inside. I bought a new shirt (like I need it) and a giant basket of poutine (the only legitimate Canadian Cuisine) and sat out in the sun working on the plot for Skikardi II and talking to strangers. The place I bought the poutine also serves Turkish coffee which is a fine subtitute for the Elixir of Life. I am thrilled by this discovery.

So I decided I'd drop by Cel's place. On the way to the University transit station, I ran into a group of five or six scruffy metalheads loitering on the sidewalk outside Sonix. I gave them my left-over poutine and sat down with them for a bit. One of the guys had a cute little white mouse that he let me play with.

After a ride on the LRT up into Unknown Territories (read: Coliseum station), I took the 8 bus all around creation before it finally got somewhere close to Cel's apartment block. Then, tired, hungry and thirsty, I go up to her place, knock and am greeted by the news, 'Hey since you're here, let's go down to Value Village and get me a couch!!' I'm thrilled. See me thrill.

We actually do find a couch, which is actually very nice and clean and we fix the broken part and then we have to lug it back to her place by ourselves. Across two streets, down one alley, through two parking lots and past a couple of hippies playing hackey-sack.

And then it gets stuck in the door to her building. Oh joy. Lots of pushing, swearing and tipping later, we get it inside, wrestle it up two flights of stairs. Both landings are shorter than the couch and thank god no one wanted to use the stairs while we were doing this. Then through the corridor, which is only about an inch wider than the couch, and suddenly we realize there isn't any room to turn the couch once we reach the door to her flat. We tip the couch on it's end, crush my toe, force it through the door, nearly drop it and TA-DAA!!!

Cel has a couch.

Ya! Amazon.com finally came through! I'm now the proud owner of the soundtrack to the Mummy Returns (sounds suspiciously like Independence Day soundtrack) and more importantly, the soundtrack to The Cell. WooooWHEEEE!!! There isn't a dull track on that album. It's creepy music (it was a creepy movie) but it's so unique and interesting. And parts of it sorta remind me of the Tea Party's stuff, with the Mid-Eastern sound it has. It's a five-star listen. : )

Finished the first part of my German exam today, which wasn't as difficult as I'd been dreading. Tomorrow is the speaking portion and then Wednesday will bring a horrifying 190 multiple-chioce questions plus 118 short answer written questions. *shudder* I hate multiple choice. It is evil. Evil. Evil, Evil, EVIL.

And I discovered a temporary cure for my writers block! I bought a blank leatherbound book to write in rather than typing on the computer. This has several positive attributes: first, it's now living in my omni-present knapsack so no one can get their theiving paws on it and second, even if they did, no one can read my writing. ^_^ Bad penmanship has it's plusses!

I'm slowly beating my depression. It's lasted an unprecendented two weeks so far, something that's never happened to me. I'm glad I took some time off from the web-site or else I'd be a wreck. Now I've time to give myself, my surroundings and my future some serious thought...

And my Amazon.com order finally came through! WHOO HOO!!! : D Off to listen to the Cell soundtrack....

Atlantis. Urgh. Disappointing. : P

The story was rather dull. I didn't find any of the characters really intriguing- well, okay, the demolition guy reminded me of my brother, especially in the scene where he's digging through a sack of explosives pulling out sticks of dymnamite and cherry bombs and talking about nitro glycerin... And Audrey rather reminded me of my beloved Toni (from Skikardi), which really cheezed me off until I actually saw the movie and found her character nothing like Toni's selfless, compassionate sarcasm.

And it dragged in places. I mean REALLY dragged.
C-R-A-W-L-E-D *sound of machinery breaking down, bolts falling off, hitting the floor, rolling away into a corner* Especially the scene where Kida goes up and becomes Crystal Kida. I 'spose they were trying to make it suspenseful and majestic, buuuut... they failed. : P

Too bad. Better luck next year.

Going off to see Atlantis now! Noema and Cel are coming too- I still have trouble thinking of Cel as 'Edmontonian' rather than 'St. Albertan'. Moving does strange stuff to ya. She's lonely. : ( If there is one reason why I would buy a car, it's so I could visit Cel more often. : )

Oooh, I just took a 'purity test' of sorts that shows you which Harry Potter character your most like... I'm Harry. : ) (Funny, that's what I went as for Halloween...) Second place was Hagrid... yeah, I wouldn't mind taking care of unicorns and dragons and such.. : )

YEEEES!!! 'Atlantis' comes out today.

I have a very odd relationship with Disney movies. I love animation, it's my favorite medium and in my opinion, many live action films out there would have done better being animated *cough*HarryPotter*cough* but on the other hand, Disney is like the MicroSoft of animating studios. They rule supereme. Every once and a while, someone else tries to challenge but there's something wrong with these people- either it's a shoddy rip-off of a Disney movie, which just makes people groan and roll their eyes because they want something ORIGINAL, not ripped off- or it's the Swan Princess. I did like Quest for Camelot, but now I'm getting off topic.

Disney has a way of pissing me off. Mostly because they do so much goddamn marketing. Most of those movies would stand alone, do just fine by themself without all the hype. I like action figures and various other movie junk but Disney just swamps the market. They launch the Stuff before the Movie, which irritates me cuz I see it as being arrogant and it also pisses me off because people automatically go out and buy it for their kids as if there's this unspoken rule that if you stick to Disney stuff, you're kids will undoubtedly like it.

And I have issues with the animation of late, too. Animation isn't supposed to be 'realistic', if it was, then they would have done the story live-action. So people with enviously cooperative hair, small waists, large eyes and improbable physical capabilities I can deal with. Animation is fantasy, it's not supposed to be real. It can teach a real lesson, but the ART isn't REAL. But lately (as in the last two films), the art has gotten... bad.

I love the older styles they used, such as in the Aristocats and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and stuff. It was cool, stylized, realistic in a fantastic way, full of character. 'Hercules' and 'The Emporer's New Groove' look like Art Nouveau experiments. I don't like. : P Icky. Detail = good, folks. Detail good. Detail in character makes us unconsciously look at them as more than a cut-out doll, because we have to pay attention to them because they're intersting.

Whoops. I'm ranting. : ) Oooh, it's been awhile. : )

Phil Pullman ROCKS!! Noema loaned me 'The Golden Compass' yesterday. What an awesome book! It's kind of tragic and some parts are unhappy and I think Lord Asriel is the most annoying, cruel person and want to hit him on the head... But it was *so* good!

I love Lyra. She's not a conventional heroine, she's fearless and flawed at once... Though I'm not sure how to pronounce her name- is it LYRE-ah like the instrument or LIRE-ah like the Italian currency??

You can see our world in the story but with such differences... I got a thrill when they talked about Heidelberg. : ) And mentioned Dr. John Dee.

Awesome book, I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Oh, this one ended so ABRUPTLY! I flipped over the last page and went, "Wha-at? Where's the rest??!" : O I hope Noema has 'the Subtle Knife' too... ; )

My room looks naked with the new small dresser in it. I think there's definitely some room for a loveseat or at least a padded bench now...

I got a guestbook for the slick new version of Cataclysm Productions! Go sign it here and make me happy!

We tried to tell them, but they just wouldn't listen. Greed makes you deaf, I guess. BearShare is just as good as Napster. : ) Katy the Coffe Shop Girl was right- the song I can't out of my head is something called 'Around the World' by ATC. Hey, it might be fluffy pop but the melody is insidiously catchy and the words are... well... it's pop, but the general idea jives with me. : )

Ew. I don't like the new look over at Sluggy Freelance. It's too cheesy looking for the comic and hard on the eyes. : P I liked the old simple white and gray better.

*gasp pant wheeze* See, first I needed a new bureau. Then I thought, if I get a smaller one, I can get a nice big bookshelf to cram full of all the junk that's currently living on my floor, bed, chairs and any other available surfaces. Then it occured to me that my current bureau is full of USELSS CRAP that needs to be carefully sorted through to make sure there isn't anything important in with the CRAP. Then it occured to me that if I am to implement two new pieces of furniture into my already over-stuffed room, I will need to take EVERYTHING out and then rearrange everything.

You see the problem? A bed, two desks, a computer, two bookshelves, a rickety old dresser and three chairs- minus the rickety old dresser, plus a new one, plus a new bookshelf = ...even LESS open space and right now, all that fits in the open floor space is a little 3'X 2' rug. :) Cramped? Cozy!! (Chaotic. I could furnish Cel's entire bachelor pad with the contents of my room.)

The computer is mysteriously better. We didn't do anything and Telus didn't do anything... Hmmm.

So I sent my 'Die with your boots on' tribute picture to IronMaiden.com. Whee! I got a nice polite form letter back which at least acknowledged the fact that they did indeed get it (I've been wondering lately about people receiving my e-mails or not, especially now after the damn hack). I hope the picture is well-received. : )
